Disney Pixar’s “Inside Out 2” has officially crossed the $1 billion USD mark at the international box office, making it one of only 12 films to ever achieve this milestone. This achievement is particularly historic as “Inside Out 2” is the first animated film to surpass the billion-dollar mark internationally.
According to Variety, while 55 films have grossed $1 billion USD globally, only 12 have reached this benchmark solely from international markets. Although Disney’s 2019 “The Lion King” hit $1.1 billion USD, it was categorized as a live-action film rather than a computer-animated one.
“Inside Out 2” has seen remarkable success worldwide. In South Korea, it earned $60.8 million USD, $62.6 million USD in France, $72.7 million USD in the U.K., $80 million USD in Brazil, and $102.2 million USD in Mexico. The sequel has become the highest-grossing film of the year, amassing $1.649 billion USD globally, including $1.002 billion USD from overseas markets and $646.3 million USD domestically.
Disney has had a strong summer with several blockbuster hits, including “Deadpool & Wolverine” and “Alien: Romulus.”
