Initial Impressions

The latest chapter of One Piece, titled “Loki in the Underworld,” has certainly stirred up excitement among fans. The absence of a cover page story suggests a tight focus on the main narrative, which is a refreshing change. The chapter dives straight into the intriguing dynamics between Luffy and Loki, setting the stage for potential conflict and revelations that could have significant implications for the overarching plot.

The Underworld and Loki’s Plight

The concept of the Underworld, where Loki is trapped, adds a fascinating layer to the story. The use of Sea Prism Stone handcuffs and chains indicates that his situation is dire, and the presence of animal guards hints at the dangers lurking in this realm. Loki’s plea to Luffy for freedom, coupled with his promise to eliminate any pirate crew Luffy desires, raises questions about his true motives. Is Loki genuinely seeking liberation, or is there a deeper strategy at play?

Tensions Rise with Shanks’ Insult

The interaction between Luffy and Loki is particularly noteworthy. Loki’s jab at Shanks being a “chicken” not only serves to provoke Luffy but also highlights the complex relationships among the characters. Luffy’s reaction—attacking Loki in Gear 4—suggests that this insult hits close to home for him, indicating his deep respect for Shanks. The anticipation surrounding the effectiveness of Luffy’s attack adds to the suspense, leaving readers eager for more details in the full summary.

The Bounty Reveal

The revelation of Loki’s bounty at 2.6 million Beri is significant. It positions him as a character of interest within the One Piece universe, especially considering the World Government’s involvement. This bounty could lead to further complications down the line, especially if Luffy decides to intervene in Loki’s fate. The connection between Shanks and Loki remains a tantalizing mystery, and Luffy’s insistence on uncovering it suggests that this subplot will be explored in future chapters.

Zoro and the Group’s Struggles

Meanwhile, the shift in focus to Zoro and the others adds depth to the chapter. Their narrow escape from Road and his gang of pirates introduces new threats and challenges. The potential dissatisfaction among the New Giant Warrior Pirates members hints at internal conflicts that could play a pivotal role in the story.

Robin and Saul’s Reunion

Robin’s preparations to reunite with Saul create a touching moment amidst the chaos. The act of Brook cutting her hair back to its pre-time-skip style symbolizes her readiness to face her past. However, the sudden collapse of Jaguar D. Saul leaves readers on edge, raising questions about his condition and the implications for Robin and the crew.

Conclusion

Overall, One Piece chapter 1131 sets the stage for thrilling developments with its mix of action, character dynamics, and emotional stakes. The focus on Loki’s predicament and the implications of his relationship with Luffy and Shanks promise to deepen the narrative. As we await further spoilers and the full chapter release, fans are left buzzing with theories and excitement for what lies ahead in this epic saga.

It’s still so crazy to me Loki is the one man Lola wouldn’t marry. Really wonder where Oda is going with this character. He claims to be the Sun God, and he stole a legendary devil fruit. I honestly hope the DF he took isn’t just some Norse lore based fruit and instead something unique to OP.

Still, he’s worth 2.5B, Big Mom thought an alliance with him and the giants would secure One Piece for her, he thinks Shanks is a chicken, and it took all of the top warriors to secure him. At this point it sounds like him allying with Luffy may be necessary given what we’ve seen of Imu and the Elders.

I like that there’s still Yonko level threats in the world.

Maybe Luffy punched him with G4 because he knew that Loki wouldn’t be mildly hurt by anything less than G4?
That punch may have been equivalent to the casual violence we see Nami enact, or the casual violence between Sanji and Zoro. This is just me trying to give Luffy some cover. Not really a fan of Luffy getting riled up over a joke, but then again, pirates aren’t zen masters.

    Hmm, this is bit crackpot and wonky at timeline, but let’s shoot (and probably miss by a mile);

    – CP9 assassinated the king, stole Nika fruit and framed Loki
    – Shanks steals the fruit back from CP9, as a giant friend he hears the tea fast and strikes unexpected. Maybe he even learnt about the tragedy from Loki, his friend.
    – Loki later heard Shanks has the fruit, and maybe that there is a rubber boy at his East Blue base.
    – May holds a grudge or thinks Shanks assassinated the King, since he didnt bring it back. Loki challenged Shanks to fight for the location of the fruit/rubberboy.
    – Shanks said no or ran away. Thus he is a chicken. Or maybe they actually met, he learnt the truth (Luffy, Nika, Roger being early etc).instead of a duel and decided to play the bad guy so Luffys location wouldn’t be compromised. He is a giant, he can wait decade or two for Nika.

Am I blind or did no one mention one fun fact – Shanks became a yonkou 6 years ago, this guy is imprisoned for 6 years. Shanks is very related to Elbaph, Loki from as little as we can see is quite cunning.

Shanks becoming a Yonkou has something to do with what happened whenever Loki was imprisoned. Special bounty after all, most likely because of his devil fruit that world government wants to get their hands on. Even Law does not have a special bounty even though he has a absolutely top tier devil fruit that has a bounty of a Yonkou by itself.
This for me clearly comfirms that world government, at the very least the absolute top echalon, Elders, maybe Divine knights and Commander in Chief Kong knows almost all there is to know about devil fruit.

Also really makes me wonder what Shanks was doing in Elbaf just now. Presumably it was poneglyph related, what with the giants’ connection to Ohara… but what about anything they have would be directly helpful to Shanks finding the One Piece? Is there somebody in Elbaf that can actually translate poneglyphs? If that’s the case, it’s awfully convenient for Kidd to show up to Elbaf just as Shanks is about to depart, ready to lose the rubbings he *just* got.

Or it’s an Occam’s Razor situation and Elbaf simply has the last Road Poneglyph. If it’s still there, there’s no doubt Shanks set up some sort of test for Luffy to see if he’s truly a “Great Pirate” and ready to meet him. Shit I wouldn’t doubt it if this whole thing with Loki is a set up by Shanks. Loki could have been haki/roaring to purposefully attract Luffy to his area if this is all a thing by Shanks.

Tangential: it’d be funny if when they do finally meet, Shanks asks for the hat back and Luffy refuses, making stealing the straw hat Luffy’s first and only personal act of piracy. Relinquishing his hat at this point would be as grave as giving up his jolly roger- the only natural solution is a Davy Back Fight.

The fruit part’s a clever implementation. The only “problem” it would cause is “why didn’t the Gorosei add that to the exposition” but it’s honestly a non-problem when you consider how much of One Piece runs on the characters knowing things that the audience doesn’t. So yeah, really funny idea.

On that second part, I think whether or not people have a different opinion depends on their personal theories about the father of Makino’s child.
That element aside, I do agree that it gets to be reaching. Only thing I could say in response is that Shanks’ and his crew have been seen on a handful of different islands since the start of One Piece. These guys do have a history of lounging on islands and doing random things like attending weddings.
So, I guess if we’re playing devil’s advocate, did Shanks need a specific reason to be on a winter island when he met ace? Did he need a specific reason to be on the Mihawk party island? And so on.

I’ll be honest, I do lean on Shanks being involved with Makino, but that’s my personal bias.

Cut the Gomu Gomu no mi crap – it doesn’t exist as explained by Vegapunk. The legendary fruit has to be Nika fruit

Devil Fruit has been kept within Royal Family for 800 years // WG couldn’t locate Nika fruit for ~800 years
Devil Fruit is legendary to Elbaph // Nika is Elbaph’s deity
Loki is supposed to have eaten the Legendary DF // Loki claims to be the Sun God
Loki disgrace is related to Legendary DF disappearance stolen by him // Nika will reappear in Elbaph through Luffy hence cleaning the wrong shameful Loki story telling

Plot also requires Oda to tie everything back to Nika from old history (Elbaph/Joy Boy/WG) to recent history (CP9/Shanks/Loki) so why would he introduce another legendary Devil Fruit on the Sun God island? That makes no sense.

Considering the timelines of Nika’s Devil Fruit reappearance and Loki’s disgrace it may be possible that the legendary DF was stolen from previous king and he didn’t inform Elbaph. I could see a tragic past where Loki was forced to kill his old father to prevent his disgrace – for example old dying Elbaph king appoints the prince as new king by handing him over in public the Legendary Devil Fruit that has been passed down within Elbaph until Joy Boy’s return. Loki killed his dying father and pretended that he stole and ate the Devil Fruit to save his father’s warrior honor. That or he is really a bad guy and did kill his father to steal the fruit but he found nothing (as it was already stolen years ago) and pretended he had eaten it to save his father’s name.

Additional theory – Loki calls Shanks a chicken because he witnessed his father proposing Shanks to eat the Legendary Devil Fruit that was kept for 800 years and Shanks refused. Then Legendary Devil Fruit was stolen by government and Elbaph king called Shanks right away which is how he ended up chasing the CP9.
