Reno Ichikawa briefly worked at Monster Sweeper Inc. where he met and befriended Kafka Hibino. After witnessing Kafka’s transformation, Reno helped him enter the Defense Force, and they joined together. At first, he was in the Third Division, but after Tachikawa Base was destroyed, he was moved to the Fourth Division.

Reno is a lanky and skinny young guy with cropped silver hair and large violet eyes. Typically, he maintains a stoic expression, although his demeanor often shifts to frustration or disbelief in the presence of Kafka.

At the beginning of the series, Reno wore the standard Defense Force combat suit in battle. His new combat suit, however, is unique. It’s the Numbers Weapon forged from Kaiju No. 6’s corpse. This dark-blue armor features pipes and pistons on the back and shoulders, the Izumo Tech logo on the left chest plate, and the 006 insignia on the chest.

Reno is composed and at ease. Later on, he displays a softer, more compassionate side for his buddy and his objectives, but initially he is angry with Kafka for giving up on his dream. Reno gets more protective of Kafka and his other allies as their friendship deepens. He puts his own safety above the one-sided competition between Iharu Furuhashi because he is determined to defend his classmates.

Reno is a natural thinker who is decisive and unambiguous in combat. He may sometimes lose control because of his intense desire to get stronger and his overwhelming feeling of obligation towards his coworkers. He is willing to push himself past his physical limits to save those around him.

Overall Abilities
Reno is a strong troop member with great potential. Soshiro Hoshina notes that he could become a captain, evidenced by his ability to momentarily stall a kaiju as strong as Kaiju No. 9. Jugo Ogata calls him a prodigy.

After becoming compatible with Numbers Weapon 6, the Defense Force’s most powerful and dangerous weapon made from the corpse of Kaiju No. 6, Reno’s combat skills and abilities drastically improve. He can move much faster and neutralize a pack of kaiju on his own. However, the suit has a bad effect on his behavior, prompting him to fight out of control. Reno’s strong sense of duty pushes him to extract too much force from the suit, even while it strengthens his combat ability. As a result, he often breaks bones and tears muscles while trying to destroy his opponents.

PowersHigh Unleashed Combat Power: When Reno first tries on his Defense Force combat suit, he can initially release 8% of the suit’s power. After training, he can release 18%. Currently, while wearing Numbers Weapon 6, Reno’s full released force has risen to 43%, with the ability to increase the suit’s power to 51%.

Enhanced Reflexes and Speed: Reno has extraordinary speed, shocking Kafka with his quickness. He can also avoid Kaiju No. 9’s quick assaults because to his extraordinary reflexes. Wearing Numbers Weapon 6 significantly increases his speed.

Enhanced Endurance: Reno has great physical endurance, as seen by his ability to keep fighting even after being blasted many times by Kaiju No.
9. When wearing Numbers Weapon 6, he can keep fighting despite fractured bones and muscle tears.

Cryokinesis: Using Numbers Weapon 6, Reno can release high amounts of ice and freezing energy from his body, replicating Kaiju No. 6’s powers. He can use this to stick to his surroundings, stabilize his footing, and includes freezing rounds. Reno can freeze his enemies with a touch and can freeze a whole horde of Daikaiju in a single attack after further training.

Abilities
Expert Marksman: Reno is a highly skilled marksman.
Advanced Growth Rate: After only one month of training, Reno can use Numbers Weapon 6 in combat with great proficiency. According to Toko, Reno’s ability to improve surpasses that of Kikoru Shinomiya, even though his current released force is lower than hers.
