TITLE: “Harley” (“” (-1) in Japanese; the kanji mean “Sacred Text”).
COVER PAGE: Ogre Child Yamato’s Golden Harvest Surrogate Pilgrimage, Vol. 24: “Yamato and the group find Who’s Who in a secret base. He is wearing a Wano Kuni outfit (but still wearing his mask) and is drinking with his subordinates and some geishas.”
The chapter starts where the last one ended. Loki is conscious and asks Shamrock if he is somehow related to the pirate “Red-Haired Shanks.”
Loki: “Great pirates and Tenryuubito are complete opposites! How come you two have the same face!?”
Shamrock reveals that Shanks is his younger twin brother, who grew up separately. He mentions that Shanks once returned to Mary Geoise but chose to live in this filthy lower world instead. (No Shanks flashback in this part, only dialogue.)
Loki finds it amusing that he now bears a grudge against both brothers. He then swears revenge for all his animal friends.
Shamrock: “Are you threatening me?”
Gunko: “Boss, don’t waste your time with the likes of him.”
Shamrock: “I know. There’s no need for me to attack him directly… Cerberus.”
Shamrock pulls out his sword, and a massive three-headed dog called Cerberus emerges from it. (It is unclear whether this is an Devil Fruit power or not.) This Cerberus resembles Moria’s zombie but looks far more menacing, with black clouds floating around its neck. Each of its three mouths holds a sword.
Gunko creates a massive “bird” using her arrows. Before leaving, Shamrock orders the three Cerberus heads to detach from its body and fly away. He then transforms Cerberus’ body back into a sword. He and Gunko jump onto the arrow-formed bird and take off.
Shamrock: “If you survive this, feel free to come and get your revenge. I’ll be your opponent then…”
Loki: “No way. You have got to be kidding me… It can’t be…!!! To be stabbed by that is bad!!!”
The three detached Cerberus heads, each wielding a sword, spin through the air and charge toward Loki at full speed. They pierce his torso simultaneously.
Loki: “Damn you!! Celestial Dragons!!! DAMN YOU~~~!!!”
Meanwhile, Shamrock and Gunko converse as they fly away from the Underworld.
Shamrock: “Suppressing them immediately seems difficult. We will start by capturing the children first… Call one more person in…”
Gunko: “Understood… Which one do you want?”
Cut to the Aurust Castle. Luffy and his group are talking to the giant guards he met in the last chapter.
Luffy is enraged because the guards claim they were attacked by “Red-Haired” Shanks. He refuses to believe that Shanks would do such a thing and passionately defends his honor. Nami giggles at Luffy’s reaction.
Nami (giggling): “You really trust Shanks, huh?”
Luffy (angry): “Of course!! Nami!! You’d be angry too if someone talked badly about Mori-mère, right!?”
Nami: “It’s Bell-mère.”
Giants: “Then… it must be someone who looks exactly like him… Or maybe his brother…”
Luffy: “Shanks’ brother… If he has one, I can only imagine him being a good guy. But I’ve never heard him talk about his family. Apparently, he was on a pirate ship since he was a kid… I think his family is probably Roger, Rayleigh… The whole Roger Pirates crew!! Except Buggy, of course!”
As Luffy talks about the Roger Pirates, the scene immediately shifts to the mysterious man introduced a few chapters ago.
We only see him from behind, but he is the same person who was drinking with Crocus in the Chapter 631 cover story. The mysterious man is now approaching Aurust Castle, very close to the main entrance.
Cut to Franky. He is examining Treasure Tree Adam with Ripley. As he inspects the tree, he notices a massive mural painted on its surface. (The mural is not revealed yet.)
Ripley: “I believe these are children’s drawings from long ago that have fossilized and become part of the bark.
This mural holds remarkable historical significance, making it one of this nation’s cultural heritages!
It is estimated to have been drawn around 800 to 900 years ago.
If that’s true… then these drawings come from the same period as the Void Century…!”
Franky: “What~~~!!?
Then we gotta show Robin this! I’ll tell her later…!!
But this is strange for an Elbaph drawing… They don’t look like giants to me.”
As Franky speaks, we see glimpses of the mural: a mermaid princess, a robot resembling Emeth, and a creature with strange ears.
Ripley: “I agree…
In our known history, while wars between different races were not uncommon, there were never any recorded unions among them…!!
Which makes it even more certain that this painting is nothing more than children’s drawings.”
Cut to “Walrus School.” We see children playing while Ange teaches a class.
Cut to the “Owl Library.” Saul pulls out the ancient book Harley, containing Elbaph’s sacred texts, to show Robin. It is an extremely old book, with a Sun symbol on its cover—the same symbol seen in Kuma’s church during his flashback.
Saul explains how there are many interpretations of the Sun God, yet his name and rhythm appear in legends worldwide.
The book Harley consists of three chapters, each representing one world. The third chapter is said to depict the world they currently live in, and its ending foretells events that have yet to happen.
Robin gazes at the book and declares:
Robin: “I’ll read it now!!”
In the ABSOLUTELY EPIC final double page of the chapter, we see the full mural drawing is revealed alongside Harley’s translated text, read by Robin. The mural is incredibly detailed and difficult to describe fully, but I’ll try.
At the center stands the Treasure Tree Adam, dividing the mural into two halves. Above the tree, a winged monster/demon spews fire from its mouth.
In the right side of the mural we can see several things. On one side we see a great city is under attack by a massive serpent, and on the other side we see an ark with a king, angels, and animals. In this part we can also see a moon and some people making offerings (that look like stars). This last part is similar to paintings that Enel found in the moon.
In the left side of the mural we can see a big battle. Here we can see Nika (or Joy Boy) fighting against a huge winged demon that has the sun in its hands. Nika is fighting alongside giants (one of them with horns), samurai, lunarians, Minks, a mermaid princess accompanied by sea creatures, angels, a robot similar to Emeth and a lot of ships with humans (one of them seems to be from Arabasta).
And this is what the Harley sacred texts say…
[The First World]
“On Earth, there is flame.
Mankind, overtaken by desire, touched upon the forbidden Sun.
The Enslaved prayed.
“The Sun God” appeared.
The deity of Earth became enraged.
Together with the Serpent of Hell Flame, they engulfed the world in death and darkness.
They shall never meet again.”
[The Second World]
“In emptiness, there is breath.
The deity of Forest dispatched demons.
The Sun did nothing but spread seeds of war.
The people of the half Moon saw a dream.
The people of the Moon saw a dream.
Men became gods after slaying the Sun.
The deity of the Sea rampaged.
They shall never meet again.”
[The Third World]
“In chaos, there is void.
The troubled shadow remembers
The promised day
And listens to the sound of the fragmented Moon.
“The Sun God” dances and laughs,
Leading the world to its end.
The Sun will return.
And so comes a new morning.
They shall meet again.”
NOTE: End of the chapter. NO break next week.
Recap of the Last Chapter
In the previous chapter, titled “Introducing Shamrock,” the Straw Hats explored the long-abandoned Aurust Castle, which has remained untouched since King Harald’s death. Road provided insights into the castle’s history, recounting the devastating battle between Harald and Loki that resulted in the deaths of over a hundred giants.
While exploring, the crew discovered a portrait of King Harald, learning that he was a peaceful yet formidable ruler of Ancient Giant heritage. In a significant act of defiance against his lineage, he chose to remove his horns. Road also revealed that Hajrudin is Harald’s illegitimate son, driven by a desire to unite all giants. Meanwhile, Gunko showcased her arrow-based abilities by defeating Loki, and Shamrock Figarland disclosed his identity along with his sinister plans for Elbaf.
What to Expect in Chapter 1138
One Piece Chapter 1138 is expected to center on Shamrock’s communications with Mary Geoise, where he may mobilize reinforcements, including the remaining Holy Knights or Naval officers, to secure Elbaf. The injured giants previously attacked by Gunko might regain consciousness and provide crucial information regarding the World Government’s infiltrators.
As the plot unfolds, Luffy, Zoro, and Nami may venture into the Underworld to confront the invaders. Road’s extensive knowledge of Elbaf could prove invaluable to the Straw Hats as they navigate this perilous territory. Fans are eagerly anticipating Luffy’s first encounter with Shamrock.
